Modelling Impacts of Nature-Based Solutions on Surface Water Quality: A Rapid Review

Global climate change and growing urbanization pose a threat to both natural urban ecosystems. In these, one of the most impacted elements is water, which responsible for large variety ecosystem services benefits society. Mathematical models can be used simulate implementation Nature-Based Solutions (NBSs), thus helping quantify these issues in practical efficient manner. This paper presents rapid review literature effects NBS on water quality were assessed with help modelling methods. It was found that only 14 papers deal topic regard NBSs. Most published European countries, using Nitrogen and/or Phosphorus as studied indicators focusing predominantly wetlands. The suggests positively impact surface quality, even under future conditions, while being justified investment from an economic standpoint. suggested more information required order expand evidence base effectiveness improvement well develop better standardized methods model impacts quality.
